How MMA Circuit Training is Beneficial to MMA Fighting

The high levels of endurance and the incredible intensity of mma circuit training means that many fighters use this type of mma workout in their MMA Training arsenal. You should keep in mind though that while mma circuit training can develop high levels of mma conditioning, there are several big downsides to this type of workout.Firstly, mma circuit training does not develop stregnth as quickly as exercises more focused on power do. This is not really a negative point about mma circuit training, it is simply something that you need to be aware of when formulating your mma workout routine and being aware of it means that you can inclusde mma stregnth training to give you a more rounded training program for mixed martial arts.

 

Below are the benefits of circuit training in regard to MMA:

  • Requises very little equipment. Most of the eercises are bodyweight and rely on repetition to work you.
  • You can mix up the routines very easily meaning that you can beat plateaus by continuously changingh the exercises around.
  • You can set goals easily and can therefore measure progress and improvement in mma conditioning.
  • Having great mma conditioning and endurance means that you will be able to dictate the fight much longer and fight it on your terms!

MMA Circuit Training in action.

I did the following MMA conditioning circuit pyramid style, starting at 8 reps of each exercise, going all the way down to 1 rep by the last set.

Doing it this way really works your anaerobic lactic strength endurance. But feel free to choose any set/rep scheme you'd like.

 


 

This is a simple MMA conditioning workout that you can do that takes no equipment, just a local park.

This is a pretty intense example of MMA circuit training and I wouldn't just jump straight into it. Brock is a highly trained athlete. To get up to this level the right way though, you should use the Ultimate MMA Strength and Conditioning program.
